“Comfortable bed, good clean rooms. Safe hotel”

The hotel offered a free shuttle to the hotel and to Happo One terminal or Hakuba station, plus a few other nearby spots. The rooms were very clean, windows were clear, and breakfast had a good variety. The shuttle needed a local line to call the hotel for a pickup, but my eSIM only had data, so I ended up walking around without it.

“Convenient, comfy way to spend a ski holiday”

The place sits in a great spot, and it’s super convenient that the rental shop is right across the parking lot. The staff were outstanding, and the beds were really comfortable. I especially liked the fireside lounge. Breakfast was included and there were handy vending machines. I also appreciated the free shuttle that took me to and from town and the bus terminal. The only gripe I have is that they only provide single‑ply toilet paper, which is a tiny annoyance compared to everything else.

“The location, facilities, cleanliness, food, and staff were all exceptional.”

This place was fantastic for a ski trip. It’s just a 300 m walk to the Happy One ticket office and chair lift, and Rhythm Ski Hire is only 60 m from the front door with a discount, which made everything super convenient. The rooms were spacious by Japanese standards, especially the Junior Suite, and the private bathroom and toilet were a big plus. Breakfast and the evening buffet were amazing, so mornings were easy before heading to the slopes and evenings were great for a quiet night in. The hotel shuttle bus was efficient and easy to use, which helped a lot with getting around. For families, the coin laundry was a great convenience. The traditional onsens (separate for men and women) were a highlight, and booking a private onsen was a lovely bonus. Each room also had its own ski and snowboard locker, so storing gear was hassle‑free. Overall, a very comfortable, well‑equipped, and convenient stay for a ski holiday. The only downside was that we only skied 3 of the 10 resorts available on our Australian EPIC pass. :)

“Amazing hotel stay at HappoOne”

I arrived in mid‑March and the weather was like winter. The hotel has an old‑school vibe with two fireplaces that make it feel cozy. The staff speak English very well and were very helpful with recommendations and restaurant reservations. One perk is the hotel shuttle bus, which in the evenings offers a personalized drop‑off and pick‑up service to the restaurant of your choice in Hakuba. It’s close to the chair lift, and the free shuttle stops at several destinations, including Happo One, the bus terminal, and Hakuba 47, so you can get around without a car. Breakfast has a good spread, but after a few days it can get boring because the dishes are the same. The rooms feel a bit dated, the insulation isn’t great, and it can get cold during peak winter.

Nana‑san and her team were exceptionally helpful. The hotel is well‑situated with a shuttle bus (and drivers) that connects the Hakuba Valley. The issue isn’t with the hotel; I noticed that most non‑Japanese guests, especially westerners, don’t follow the onsen etiquette. Even if you shower in your room or in the morning, you should rinse thoroughly before jumping into the hot spring bath. Many of them take a 10‑second rinse and jump straight in, which is dirty. With respect to the lovely staff, especially the cleaner, and other guests, please honor the “clean your body before using the onsen” rule. These practices have existed for centuries in Japan, and the locals do it, so I couldn’t understand why westerners would not.
