The colonial atmosphere feels like a home away from home, the food is tasty but pricey, and the location is good. The room was small, the lighting was inadequate, the bathroom fixtures were poorly fixed and rough, and in the early morning the tap stopped working.

The staff were really nice and the stay was perfectly positioned for enjoying Galle Center and the harbour.

The accommodation sits in the heart of the fort, making it easy to wander the streets and the fort itself, and the evenings are lovely for a stroll. The building is over 400 years old, so staying there felt like an experience at a heritage site. However, because we were three, the rooms felt cramped and a bit uncomfortable; a double room might have offered more space.

The property is in a fantastic spot, very close to the lighthouse, surrounded by lush plants and greenery. It’s an old, charming house, and the warm, welcoming family hosting you makes the stay feel truly homely. We found cockroaches on the bed and around the room, which made it hard to sleep on the first night. The family responded quickly, gave us a spray, and thoroughly cleaned the room the next day.
