I met Anna and the rest of the staff, and they were always professional, friendly, and ready to help with anything. The place feels like a breath of ancient China, with every detail from the building to the furnishings, accessories, and inner courtyards reflecting tradition. For all these reasons and more, I strongly recommend Yide Hotel.

The hotel often hosts group travelers, so the breakfast is standard, bland, and limited to an English set (eggs, bacon, toast, butter, jam, juice, tea or coffee); solo guests get fruit and a small salad. The location is good, close to the pedestrian centre. Given the price, I would improve the breakfast by turning it into a buffet.

If you’re looking for a place to descend to Pingyao, Yide Hotel is undeniably the one. It’s a real time‑travel experience, a former 18th‑century Chinese merchant house renovated without sacrificing authenticity. The staff are charming, very helpful, and the dinner is perfect—don’t miss it.

It’s charming. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The buildings were authentic, the bedroom beautiful, and the fresh food delicious. The staff spoke good English and were very helpful with onward connections. We loved it.

The staff were super friendly, and the rooms were set up in a Siheyuan – a traditional Chinese courtyard house. It was just gorgeous.
