The homestay was clean, comfy and in a nice spot a little out of the main town, so you avoid the bustle and the grounds look lovely. The host was very welcoming, sorted all our day trips and the Medan transfer at a fair price, and served us a great breakfast.

Our stay at Swindo was simply great. The room was very nice and cozy, with mattresses on the ground floor and a small attic reached by stairs that had a double bed mattress. The shower and toilet were top quality. Outside there was a cozy spot to sit in the evenings, and we could hang laundry that had gotten wet in the rain. The gorgeous garden full of plants thrilled us. Everything was lovingly arranged. The owner welcomed us with a tasty juice and we felt completely at ease. We would definitely recommend this place.

It was a quiet, comfy base in Berastagi for hiking Mount Sibayak volcano. We spent two nights in a family room separate from the main house, with a mezzanine that had a double bed and two single beds downstairs. The owner was very helpful, spoke good English and made us lovely breakfasts of pancakes or eggs and toast, and the fresh fruit juice was delicious. The property sits up a quiet road inside a lovely garden. We could walk to town restaurants or order takeaway, which we did one evening when it rained heavily. The owner booked our sunrise volcano hike, and the guide was very good and patient while my husband, who was slow because he was photographing all the amazing nature, kept up. He also took us to other interesting local sites, including relaxing hot springs and traditional houses. It was a great day. The owner also arranged our onward travel to Medan. We would definitely recommend staying here if you visit Berastagi.

The host was very nice, giving good suggestions for dining and tours. The kids loved our little house; we would rank it first among all our stays in Indonesia. Our trips to the volcano and Lake Toba were great with the house driver Tikko. Fully recommend him. Nothing to complain about.

It was a small place ideally situated near Berastagi's center yet quiet, in a peaceful high‑altitude neighbourhood. The manager gave a great welcome, and the garden was very beautiful.
