The location of the hotel wasn’t bad. It had access to a few cafes and was walkable to a small beach and other destinations around the city. I also liked the $17 credit we got every day, even though it essentially just covered 4 water bottles for the day. When we went up to our room the first night there was an “air purifier” machine that was really an ozone generator pumping ozone into our room!! The windows were closed and our throats and lungs started burning within minutes. The smell was horrendous and we got light headed. A quick Google search shows how harmful ozone generators are for health, and as an asthmatic it was particularly hard for me to deal with physically. At first we just asked if we could open the window and the person at the desk said the windows don’t open at all. Meaning they’re using machines like this with no ventilation at all? And running them for god knows how long. With some more back and forth visits to the desk they finally let us switch rooms. Neither of the rooms were particularly clean, the second one smelled of cigarettes and had a bug and marks on the sheets. At this point we were too tired to go back and argue. For the rest of the trip I was dealing with asthma and allergy symptoms in the hotel. Very disappointed with my stay
