I was told the room was available, but it turned out it wasn't; I was promised a refund after discovering the room had already been booked.

The owner claimed a prior reservation and refused to keep mine; I asked for a cancellation, but he didn't cancel, meaning I would still be charged. It feels like owners can exploit this by not canceling and pocketing the money, and I had to spend a lot of time figuring out how to contact Booking to fix it.
