Hotel Le Axidie

“Decent place to huddle down and enjoy the water when it's warmer.”

The resort sits right on the beach, offering lounge chairs and umbrellas, but the weather was a bit cool and the sea felt cold. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the pools were nice, though also a touch chilly. Like most hillside towns, the harbor is a long walk from the town center and the resort is uphill from there. A taxi from the train station cost over 50 USD. They do run a shuttle between the resort and the train station several times a day, but it can get full, so you need to plan ahead.

“Strandhotel in schöner Lage zu fairem Preis”

The room had a sea view, and the terrace with a bar was right at the water’s edge. Breakfast was Italian and tasty. The shuttle to the town was convenient, and you could hop directly from the harbor in front of the hotel to trips to Capri and the Amalfi Coast. The bathroom had a bathtub that was hard to enter and could be dangerous for less mobile guests; it needs renovation and there’s no proper storage space in the bathroom.

The hotel’s services were good, but the beds were hard. The room had a “slope side” feel and smelled like a basement.

The beach on the right side was a bit rocky, but you could reach it via a small bridge. The photo on Booking shows the Axidie on the far left side, which isn’t next to the pool; that’s misleading.
