The view from the restaurant and pool was amazing, and the hotel’s décor is beautiful. The road up to the hotel is a bit bumpy, but taxis are used to it, so it wasn’t a problem. We would have liked a slightly larger bathroom in our room.

The location was excellent – aside from the drive, which is inevitable for this spot – and the setting allowed for real relaxation as guests were spread out and rarely crossed paths, making the whole complex very quiet with lovely garden scenery and locally sourced produce. On the downside, hotel staff were hardly ever visible; the welcome tour after arrival lasted barely a minute and left many areas unseen, and the external restaurant concept felt odd. Two days before we arrived we were told we wouldn’t get a dinner table and had to book a rental car at short notice, yet once on site a table was arranged without the car. The restaurant service was weak, with waitstaff being trained on the spot, looking overwhelmed and stressed, although the food itself was good. Breakfast offered good ingredients, but there was essentially no service – coffee wasn’t served and we couldn’t even eat the kitchen dishes on the first day because no staff were present. Overall, the location and accommodation were superb, but the price‑to‑value ratio suffered because of the poor service.
