The staff were extraordinarily friendly, and the family‑run inn felt very welcoming. The rooms were spacious and in top condition, with a very comfortable bed and a lovely view of the Bregenzerwald. The smell in the house was quite strong and unpleasant, and even after three days I hadn’t gotten used to it.

The Doren is spot‑on for a holiday in the Bregenzerwald plus Lake Constance, sitting right on a quiet connecting road that still sees occasional loud cars or motorcycles at night, so book a room toward the back. The breakfast is excellent, the restaurant offers very good food at reasonable prices, and the staff are friendly and create a family‑like vibe. From the restaurant terrace you get a great view of the Bregenzerwald ridges, the bed is good, and the bathroom is large and newly renovated. The entrance is in the restaurant, and you get to the rooms through a folding door next to the counter; behind that door a strong dog smell lingers, but it dissipates on the upper floor where my room was. Also, there was no armchair in the room; the two wooden chairs were old‑fashioned but uncomfortable.

“Wir haben uns sehr willkommen und wohl gefühlt.”

The friendly staff, fine food and breakfast, the room’s cleanliness and the restaurant’s charm were all very satisfying! The in‑house products were a plus. In rooms facing the street, traffic noise is audible when the windows are open, and the stairwell smells strongly of farm and dogs.

The staff were very friendly and fulfilled every request. The only downside was a strong horse‑stable smell in the hotel, except inside the rooms.
