The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the dining room had a cosy fire. However, there was no heating on the first night, but they fixed it the next night. The stair carpet was shabby with a hole, the bathroom window needed painting, and the loo brush was missing. The tea machine was awkward to use and it was hard to add water from the bathroom tap.

The location to the city centre was great, just a short walk away. It looked a bit tired and I felt it needed a thorough tidy‑up both inside and out.

Conveniently right next door to the canal boat hire company. The carpet was filthy, the bed and pillows were thin and lumpy, and there was dog poo at the entrance that hadn’t been cleaned even after another guest complained; some staff seemed grumpy.
