Palace Hotel de Caxambu

The location is excellent, close to the city’s main sights. Breakfast was very good and the staff were attentive. I only think the property should be restored, keeping its vintage character while making general structural renovations.

The historic hotel was well‑located and felt like a period film set, a true museum with a rich collection. The service was perfect, though the corridor lighting was dark, probably due to the building’s style.

“Vale pela localização e só”

The location was fantastic. The pool (one heated and one with a slide) and sauna were very good, and the kids’ area could be useful for families. Breakfast could improve. The renovated bathroom was reasonably comfortable. However, the hotel needs a refresh without losing its essence and history. The room furniture is uninviting, with two beds combined into a double, and the TV and Wi‑Fi are poor. The ground floor lacks a lounge or any comfortable area; everything is large, poorly lit, with old, stained furnishings. Three rooms could be turned into a museum and the other two renovated for guests. Signage and lighting in the basement (pool and sauna area) are deficient. The building sits on a busy block with truck and traffic noise from early, no acoustic insulation, and insufficient shielding from outside light.
