Boutique Hotel The River House, Andermatt, is an eco-friendly design hotel located 500 metres from Gemsstock Cable Car and Nätschen Ski Lift. The historic house was charming and offered every comfort imaginable, with the staff being the most attentive and the breakfast amazing. The only drawback was that the river could be a bit noisy if you sleep with the windows open.

The hotel was small and lovely, with friendly staff and a very good location. A lockable Veloraum was available, and the in‑house restaurant served very fine food. The Veloraum was a bit hard to access.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. At breakfast you could still order items that weren’t on the buffet. The room faced the river and was very quiet, making it wonderful to fall asleep to the water’s splash. The building is old but lovingly renovated, and everything inside is modern. Bikes can be locked overnight in a separate room. The room had no TV, though you could watch shows on a tablet app; I would have appreciated a TV if I were traveling alone. The ceilings are very low, so even at 1.85 m you have to duck your head in some places—this is due to the old construction, which also contributes to the hotel’s charming look.
