The property itself is stunningly beautiful and impeccably designed. The pool was incredibly peaceful and lovely, and the pool bar staff were wonderful. Every meal and drink we had was of high quality and fresh. We also really enjoyed the on‑site wine tasting during our stay; the sommelier was clearly enthusiastic about Puglian wine and the tasting was very informative. The concierge staff felt a bit… cold? They handled all our questions and requests—arranging taxis and booking experiences at the Masseria—but we always felt like we were inconveniencing them. The staff at Calderisi a Mare were also a bit unfriendly. No single interaction was notably bad, but compared to other luxury hotels in Italy, we were a little taken aback by that.

Everything is very beautiful and well done! Truly a little oasis close to the sea. Nice room, friendly staff, wonderful pool. A big plus was the heated pool so early in the season (early April, which seemed pretty uncommon in the area when we were looking at accommodations before the trip). The housekeepers cleaned the room twice a day, which felt very luxurious. Unfortunately the bed was uncomfortable, very hard. I’m pregnant and have to lie on my side, so I got pain in my side and arms every night. Breakfast was good but could have been a bit higher level given the price range. We had some trouble with the room being too warm despite relatively low temperatures outside; they tried to fix it but it didn’t improve, so we slept with the window open instead. Also we think the city tax and cover charges for all meals at the hotel should be clearer upfront. In the end our bill ended up at almost €100 for two people and four nights in city tax and cover charges when we ate lunch or dinner at the hotel (3€ per person for lunch and 5€ per person for dinner). We think that was for about three dinners and two lunches at the hotel. We feel those expenses should be clearer beforehand, especially when you’re already paying so much per night for the stay and the on‑site consumption is expensive. Unfortunately it left a slightly bad aftertaste in the mouth despite a fantastic stay.
