“Comfortable stay”
Free parking was a nice perk, Malcolm the host was accommodating and pleasant, and the room, while small, was quiet with a very comfortable bedroom; the walk to the town centre was a bit long, but a bus stop right outside gives a transport option.
“Prima uitvalsbasis basis voor verkenning van Dartmoor NP”
The owner was super friendly, breakfast was delightful, the location convenient with its own parking and a bus stop at the door, but the gravel on the parking lot isn’t great for motorcyclists.
We booked a specific room online, yet on arrival the staff said there were only “a few options” and showed us two rooms; one had a bigger bed and a fridge but was an extra charge, which felt like upselling rather than a simple choice. The place didn’t provide bottled water or biscuits, the bathroom looked old and the toilet paper holder was damaged. The room was very small, leaving no room for even a single piece of luggage on the floor, blocking the hallway. Wi‑Fi was very unstable and weak in our room. The location was poor—no shops, just other hotels. The owner was nice, but his constant small talk felt forced and tiring. Overall, it felt more like a 3‑star than a 4‑star hotel.
We had a wonderful stay at this hardworking independent hotel where the owners take pride in their home and treated us like old friends; breakfast was delicious and lovingly prepared, though the price could be a touch higher to match the quality.
“A perfect stay with perfect hosts”
We found no faults with our stay or Alex and Stacey’s hospitality; the rooms were lovely and the breakfast amazing.
