We had booked from 30 September to 3 October, but the place was closed and builders were working inside; they said it was due to a leak. No one running the hotel ever mentioned it was closed. I called the hotel the night before to confirm check‑in details, and not once did they say it was closed.

Nothing good to say. Everything was broken, cupboards were in disrepair, and the bathroom was dirty.

A couple of hours before check‑in I received a message from the property owner: “Dear Guest, Due to a leak as we speak at Vernon Hotel Blackpool, we unfortunately have to close half of our rooms while the issue is being resolved. As a result, we are unable to honour some upcoming bookings, and regrettably your reservation is one of those affected. Your booking will be cancelled and a full refund will be processed back onto the same card used for payment. I am just going to contact now to get this cancelled and refunded straight away. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. Kind regards, Vernon Hotel.” The same message was repeated. This is absolutely unacceptable, and the owner is ignoring me. I tried calling them twice; they ignored the phone and offered no solution. I had to book another hotel, spent more money, and it was even more expensive to book on the same day.

The parking was fine. The room was absolutely disgusting: a broken TV, blood on the beds, and the bathroom was filthy and mouldy—there was no way to shower. The only reason we stayed was because we were so tired.
