“All furr coat, no knickers”

The location beside the river and inside the fortress grounds was superb, and the rooms stayed cool with good AC during hot summer nights; I appreciated the option to pay in local currency. However, a staff member barged on my door at 6:30 am demanding I move my car so they could paint a fence, and the bathroom soaps were tiny—just two 50 ml bottles and a single toilet roll, which is insufficient for a 5‑star hotel. My double bed was actually two twins pressed together, and I almost fell through the gap while sleeping. We didn't mind the party vibe when we arrived, but the music blasted until 5 am, making early sleep impossible.

“Hotel muy bonito y cómodo”

The rooms were huge and spotless, the hotel sits right next to the bastion with its own parking, and you can have breakfast on the terrace as well as the other meals; the staff only speak Russian but manage to make themselves understood.

The hotel sits within a historic fortress complex that dominates the city’s skyline, giving it a strong sense of heritage, while the food is superb and the staff are genuinely friendly; the place is spotlessly clean and you can unwind with a drink on the terrace. The rooms are well‑appointed, but being directly above a pub and nightclub means the music can disturb your sleep.
