The Westin Rusutsu Resort

“施設はとても良かった。”

The room was spacious and clean. The hot spring and sauna were included, letting me relax. The reception staff were mostly not Japanese, which I understand to some extent, but the guidance was rather careless. When I asked about various procedures, it seemed they didn’t really understand, so I think it would help to have a Japanese staff member called for important questions. I believe the phrases used at the hotel reception are somewhat fixed, so it would be good to have at least polite language for standard expressions. Inside the hotel, there was almost no guidance, and because it was so large I got lost.

“以前から何度も利用しているが、久しぶりに利用したら、働くスタッフがほぼ外国人であり、細やかな対応がしてもらえなかった。”

The large public bath was spacious and clean. The izakaya “Kakashi” was cheap and tasty. The illumination was pretty. The check‑in staff had no smile, and I had booked breakfast for the whole group, but the hotel staff told me the breakfast was not included and asked me to pay extra. Later, when I contacted the front desk about a different issue, they admitted it was a mistake. From start to finish, there was no smile at all.

Only hotel guests can play at the 72‑hole golf courses. Westin feels more upscale than the hotel on the convention‑centre side of the resort. The view from the high‑floor rooms is very nice. The public onsen was spacious. Many resort restaurants were closed during the off‑peak season.

Everything was wonderful! If you stay multiple nights, the breakfast buffet menu might get repetitive.
