Niwahana Transit City Hotel

“Great location for airport”

We stayed at Niwahana Transit City Hotel just before our flight – it was great! The room was large with a comfortable bed and it was close to the airport (they also kindly arranged our airport transfer).

The hotel’s location makes it a convenient stop for the last night before a flight. The staff kindly booked a $5 airport taxi for us to pick us up directly from the hotel. The room is very spacious and the shower has excellent pressure and heat. The only downside is the nearby street noise, but given the location it’s unavoidable.

“Highly recommended for a pre or post flight from Colombo, under 10 minutes drive from the airport”

We stayed there for one night before our early flight the next morning, and everything was perfect. The host was extremely helpful and friendly. The property was immaculate and we appreciated all the little details, like beers/soft drinks in the fridge, toothbrushes/toothpaste and toiletries in the bathroom. The hot shower was nice and the bed very comfortable. The large restaurant “Sasha’s” (air‑conditioned) just across the road was very convenient.

The host was amazing. He welcomed us with a king coconut drink, gave us two complimentary Lion beers, washed a load of laundry for us at no cost, arranged a 5 am ride to the airport, and even met us in the morning with plates of fruit and fresh juice before we left. The room was very clean and comfortable. One tip: if you’re tall, watch your head going through the street gate and the door. Everything was great.

“A cheap place to spend one night. You get what you oay for .”

The owner was charming and helpful, doing everything for us, but the hotel sits on a busy main road and is hard to find.
