The room itself was lovely in a charming area. The location was perfect for us and the café just around the corner was a lovely place to spend evenings. Everything was perfect.

“STANZA CON GRAVI PROBLEMI DI MUFFA ED UMIDITÀ”

I have worked in hospitality for many years and this is the first time I feel compelled to leave a negative review. Unfortunately I find it necessary because of the complete absence of the host in addressing a serious issue of mold, dampness and poor cleanliness. I arrived at the property on 19 December very late, tired, and initially did not notice the problems that appeared within a few hours. As an asthmatic, I could not sleep all night. The next day I left early for a tour and, returning in the evening, I was assaulted by a strong damp smell. Moving the bed and furniture, I unfortunately discovered the cause of my discomfort: the lower part of the walls was visibly damp and the headboard was completely covered in mold. I immediately notified both Booking and the host, who only replied at 10 pm, proposing to cancel the reservation from the next day. I asked what refund they intended to offer, considering that finding another accommodation a few days before Christmas would have cost much more. The answer came only the next evening: they would still charge me for the two nights used, despite the condition of the accommodation. I expressed my disagreement and asked for at least an urgent cleaning intervention to remove the mold. From that moment, total silence. In fact, I paid for a property only to leave my luggage, sleep and stay with a friend. Facing the photos sent to Booking and the host, I believe there is little to apologize for in words: it would have been appropriate to intervene concretely and, above all, to avoid putting a short‑term rental on the market that has obvious damp problems potentially harmful to guests' health.

“Good location, shame about the renovations.”

The spot was perfect for exploring Amsterdam, quiet and safe, and the host stayed friendly and communicative. The building is in the middle of renovations, so there was a lot of drilling and daytime noise, but the host explained and apologized for the disturbance.
