It’s an exclusive paradise. Ultimate comfort amid nature for yourself, a kilometer‑long beach, sleep to the sound of waves, and the most exclusive service. Beautiful, well‑maintained cabins, attention to detail, brutal service, the best food we’ve had in Sumba, and we celebrated our anniversary with absolute dedication and care.

We stayed in a gorgeous resort, sleeping in a fantastic villa with a huge pool that made us feel completely at peace. The staff were very friendly, though their English was not great. A day trip with our driver Anki was amazing, but the resort is far from everything we wanted to explore, so we had to hire a driver to see the sights around Waingapu. The restaurant’s service was disappointing because dishes took a long time to arrive; ordering ahead solved that, yet the prices were absurdly high compared to the rest of the country. Because the location is so remote, we were forced to eat at the resort, which is why we give it a low score. Another issue: the resort never warned us about the possibility of crocodiles in the nearby river mouth. A local fisherman told us they were there and advised us not to enter the sea beyond knee‑height, which we followed and avoided danger. If you’re looking for a quiet retreat with a lovely house and pool and don’t mind paying a lot for food and drinks, this place is fine.

The beachfront location was wonderful, even though the spot feels a little isolated it’s very quiet and has all the necessary services, so having a car is advisable. We arrived on Indonesian Independence Day and the whole staff pulled us into their traditional games, making us feel right at home; the young staff members pampered us and were on hand throughout our three‑day stay, and we enjoyed both lunch and dinner.

The rooms are large, but the distance to everything else is too far and the meals were not very good.

The rooms are nice, small‑scale, and on the beach. The food and drink prices at the restaurant are completely out of proportion for what you should pay in that region. They could raise room rates slightly and cut restaurant prices by 30%. Ordering in advance works well; otherwise you wait a long time for your food.
