“Esto no es un hotel”
When we booked this place, I sent a message through the app saying we would arrive around 10‑11am and asked if we could leave our car parked because we had a boat reservation. On the day we arrived early, a lady received us, made us fill out a form with our details, and told us she could let us into the room early in exchange for a “little tip” for her colleague. We didn’t really need the room, but my husband said yes and gave 100 pesos Mexican, and the woman said that was very little and the minimum was 200 pesos. It felt disrespectful to ask for more when we said we wouldn’t use the room and had to leave. My husband had the 100 pesos ready, but when she said it wasn’t enough, I told her we didn’t need the room because we had no more cash. She took the money from my husband’s hand so quickly she didn’t even have time to do anything else, gave us the key, and we left for our boat departure, returning at 9pm. The lady at cleaning/ reception was rude. The room was not clean, the bed uncomfortable, the bathroom had dampness and was dirty, and the mirror had hand marks that obviously weren’t ours.
