The spot is perfect – just a short walk from Suzhou’s main train station and the price is hard to beat. I appreciated the quick WeChat replies and the option to pay cash when I arrived. The only downsides were the flimsy disposable towels (probably because I only stayed one night), hot water that didn’t always show up, and a bathroom with no light.

Being right next to the canal alley means there’s always something going on in the evenings – shops, food stalls, the works. The rooms are cute, equipped with a high‑tech toilet, and they even leave a few snacks for guests; the upstairs‑stairs room was especially nice. The hitch was that all the communication was in Chinese, which left us foreign guests a bit confused, and we even ended up at the wrong address at first because of a mix‑up.

The two‑level room was surprisingly spacious and a little tucked away behind a charming courtyard, with clear signs that made it easy to find. It’s close to the metro and the old town, and the self‑check‑in, luggage drop‑off, plus the welcome water, souvenir, toothbrush kit, slippers and hair dryer were nice touches. In winter the bathroom felt cold – there’s no heating and the disposable towels were thin, though the shower curtain helped keep the floor from getting flooded.
