I had an amazing stay at the Hotel Schmerkötter while taking a course at Ruhr Universität for two weeks; the room was spacious and spotless, the location was fantastic, the staff were friendly and caring, and the highlight was Oly the cat—cute, happy, non‑invasive, never enters rooms, yet loves being petted (I spent most of my time in Bochum stroking him!). I couldn't have asked for a better experience, thank you so much for everything!

At this family‑run hotel guests are treated with love and care; the attention to detail and thoughtful provisions for guests are evident. The bed was wonderful and I slept well. I especially liked being able to choose breakfast the day before, and even with my pre‑selection I was pleasantly surprised beyond expectations. The hotel is quiet and close to the university.

The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was excellent, parking is in front of the entrance, the beds are comfortable, and the place is conveniently located near the Ruhr‑Universität.
