The place was well‑situated and key pickup was easy, but it was very cold, the radiators didn’t work, the oil heater couldn’t warm the room to a decent temperature even though outside was “plus”, so I slept in a sweater and two long‑sleeve undershirts; the shared kitchen was terribly dirty, with broken appliances, unwashed cabinets, etc.

It was colder inside the room than outside, communication with the host was difficult, the bed was very hard and squeaked with every move, the shower leaked even when careful, cold seeped through the window, the heating was non‑functional, the backup heater was not turned on when we arrived, it took four days to reach a “suitable” temperature, the nearby kitchen was unpleasant, and a fishy smell lingered every night.

The proximity to the airport and central London was a plus, but there was no air conditioning or fan for hot weather, and this weekend it was hot.
