Breakfast was decent but limited to a few small dishes, and the communal seating was pleasant. The building itself was beautifully restored and kept tidy. It sits in a nice area, but because it’s in SA you’ll find electric fences and cameras on every house—walk around at your own risk. There’s no 24‑hour front desk and only guests are allowed to stay overnight. Our room lacked privacy, with windows looking straight at the entrance and only blackout curtains (no sheers), right by the main door. The bed was uncomfortable and the room was cramped. The neighborhood is quiet but very hilly, so you’ll need transport to reach most attractions.

The hotel was lovely, cosy and quiet, even though it’s close to town. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and breakfast was a real highlight!

A gem—absolutely excellent.

The property was beautifully kept, clearly renovated with great care and attention to detail, and the common areas and facilities were excellent. Unfortunately, the room sat right next to the entrance door, making it extremely noisy at night—every passer‑by could be heard. The old building also lets sounds from neighboring rooms travel easily. Future guests should bring earplugs and request a room farther from the entrance. Breakfast was disappointing: we waited 40 minutes for just one slice of sourdough and one slice of French toast, far below what one would expect at this level. The staff were friendly but occasionally seemed a bit overwhelmed. A small but telling detail: the parking gate was broken from day one, and when we mentioned it the reply was simply “ah yes, this happens”—not the standard response one hopes for. Finally, the person we thought was the owner or manager walked through without greeting us or even saying good morning. For a property of this calibre—and at this price point—that felt like a missed opportunity.
