“Decadente”

The hotel is very close to the Medina, the staff are extremely friendly and very helpful, but the building is old, the services are basic, the breakfast is poor, and the environment is not well maintained or clean.

“Good location, but very disappointing hospitality”

The hotel’s location is great and we enjoyed a lovely view of Bab El Bhar from our balcony; the Wi‑Fi worked well and the air conditioning was fine, and overall cleanliness was acceptable. The reception staff were helpful, especially a tall, young receptionist who was very polite, came to our room to help with the safe and room temperature, and tried to talk to us whenever he saw us during the day. The main reason for our low rating was the behavior of the woman working at breakfast: she was rude, seemed friendlier toward guests who spoke Arabic or French, and treated us differently and sometimes upset us. On our first morning she didn’t tell us we could request an omelette, and there was very little food available, so we practically went hungry. She later offered an omelette to an Arabic‑speaking female guest. On our second morning there were no croissants, and when we asked for some she told us in French that each person could have only one!!!! Her attitude made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, and it felt discriminatory; most of the points we are taking off are because of this experience. The breakfast itself was very average. There was also a blanket in the wardrobe, but we weren’t sure whether it had a clean cover, so we decided not to use it. Every guest deserves the same level of respect and hospitality, regardless of language or nationality.

“If not for the location, I would not go back to Royal Victoria hotel”

Lots of flies and cats and dinner service took 1 hour or more to be served. Breakfast was the same everyday. Not much international food to choose. Flies and more flies in the breakfast. Oh my!. Run down place. Lots of flies and cats. Unbelievable. Not much choices in restaurants that are clean. They do not wear gloves. Flies on food, and cats everywhere

“Everything was perfect”

The building is gorgeous and the staff were very attentive, though the decor itself was amazing.

The location was perfect, right at the entrance gate to the Medina, in a historic house that used to be an English embassy. Despite the central location, it was quiet at night and highly recommended.
