The staff tried to help us find a place to buy a SIM card using their phone, but they didn’t speak English, so we ended up buying roaming data ourselves. The toilet did flush. The hotel is close to the train station. We’ve spent five months traveling on a budget through Southeast Asia, and this is the worst accommodation we’ve had. It’s clear you get what you pay for; I doubt I’ll ever use this booking again. If you’re willing to risk it for £10 (not worth it), here’s an honest rundown: cigarette burns on the bedding and side tables, a bowl to put ash and butts, a bathroom door that doesn’t shut and a handle that’s barely functional, hanging by a thread. There’s no sink in the bathroom, the shower has zero water pressure and is freezing cold. We were initially given one towel for two of us, and they were more like blankets. No toilet paper was provided. There were no bins inside the room, only communal ones on each floor. You have to lock yourself into the rooms with a key, which is terrible in a fire. There’s no Wi‑Fi and the phone signal is poor. The TV that was provided doesn’t work, and the windows are fenced in with prison bars. If you don’t mind crime documentaries, this is the place for you. There’s honestly nothing good about this hotel. If we could have booked another room and left, we would have, but we didn’t have signal to do so.
