The place was super quiet and close to the jungle, so we saw monkeys every day and even spotted a sloth up close once. The bed was comfy, hot water was plentiful, and the water pressure was great. Breakfast and dinner were tasty, and the hosts were always reachable and helpful. Because the hotel wasn’t fully booked, we got a free upgrade to a sea‑view room. The only downside was the limited storage space in the room, but it didn’t ruin the stay.

We absolutely loved staying with Manon and Pierre on Bastimentos Island. The lodge matched exactly what we were looking for in Bocas del Toro. We had an ocean‑view bungalow and the terrace view was fantastic. A hammock and a sofa let us relax outside. We ate at the restaurant every night and really enjoyed the food. The night tour with Pierre was a special highlight. Both of them run the lodge with great dedication and passion. Many thanks for everything—warm regards, Melanie and Armin (Germany)

The location is in the mangroves, which is a bit of a drawback. There’s no proper exit path—just huge piles of trash. The building definitely needs an upgrade.

We can’t praise Ataraxia enough; it’s truly special. During our week we saw sloths, monkeys, many birds, and enjoyed snorkeling and kayaking around the bay. Every dinner was delicious. Pierre and Manon are wonderful hosts who clearly care about the environment and sustainability. They were quick to help with anything we needed, offered daily advice based on our plans, and responded immediately to any concerns. We didn’t expect yoga to be such a big part of our stay, but the sessions with Manon were excellent for all skill levels, and she’s a gracious, approachable teacher. This place is a gem—we’ll miss it.

The setting and location of this property are simply amazing, providing a unique experience. The estate is beautiful, highly eco‑friendly, and the tranquility is truly appreciated. The hosts are kind, available, very responsive, and give great advice. They gave us useful directions before arrival and helpful tips during our stay to help us explore the area. We especially enjoyed the night walk offered by Pierre, learning about many animals through his detailed explanations—a wonderful experience. The meals are varied, hearty, and of excellent quality.
