The young and friendly team was amazing. The food was excellent. The atmosphere and kitchen were well equipped.
“We had a great stay and would love to book another stay here.”
We loved the hostel and Gimmelwald! There was nothing we didn’t like.
The location near the cable car station under the Jungfrau massif was superb, with beautiful views and a good starting point for hikes. The vibe was pleasant, and the food and drinks were tasty. The 20‑bed room wasn’t ideal; the beds weren’t separated by any walls or alleys, and the bunk beds were too low, so the person on the bottom had to squeeze like a worm and I hit my head a few times. I was told beforehand that I should bring my own towel, but I found out that I could rent one for 1 CHF, which would have saved space in my backpack. During my stay a techno party was happening on the hostel grounds, so the pounding beat was audible until late at night. The showers and toilets were shared (unisex) and too few for the crowd, especially during the party when the toilet was very busy. The cost of accommodation also includes the cable car (6.50 CHF one way) and possibly parking at the cable car (20 CHF for 2 nights). Despite everything, it’s still worth staying at this hostel.
“Beautiful views”
The spot is great and the staff were really sweet! The pizza was tasty too. We booked a private room that shared bathrooms, and the only downside was that the bathrooms were downstairs, which felt pretty far, especially after a few days of hiking—just something to keep in mind.
“Fantastisk”
The view was fantastic! There were almost no curtains to separate the beds in the dormitory.
