I was told by the host that the weather would be dry and that he knew I didn’t have a 4WD, so I managed to climb up fine. He also knew there would be heavy rain, but that seemed to matter to him nothing; he headed down into the valley. I was the only guest, and at some point he sent his neighbour to collect cash. The same points are negative.

The owner and his son were incredibly kind, welcoming us and fulfilling every request instantly. They let us keep the room until early afternoon so we could freshen up after the w6 trek. They offered dinner and breakfast at the nearby resort (paying directly there) and it’s just a few minutes by car from the trail start. The room was spacious, comfortable, and had a nice outdoor area to relax. The shower, like everywhere in Oman, lacks a curtain or a shower enclosure, so every time we wash, the whole bathroom expands. That’s not unique to them; it’s the same everywhere we’ve stayed.

The room and bathroom were simple but clean, and the staff were professional and friendly. At night on the mountain it was very cold, the air‑conditioner had no heating, and there was a heating unit that was unusable and emitted a burnt smell when it ran.

We had good contact with the host. There was no WiFi.
