“Great location & views, met our needs”
We booked a three‑night stay in Room 429 at Hotel Relais del Normanni. The room was spacious, featuring a separate bedroom, walk‑in robe, luggage storage, a sitting and dining area with two large sofas, a table, four chairs, plenty of cupboards, and a large bathroom with dual sinks. The location is about 150 m from the old city, and the bedroom opens onto a large terrace with an outdoor table and four chairs overlooking the castle and old city. Parking is covered. Breakfast is buffet‑style with many choices and included. The property is adjacent to Palace Hotel San Michele, about 20 m away; reception, breakfast, and pool are located there. When we arrived roughly 45 minutes before the 1500 check‑in time, the front desk kindly held our luggage and told us the room wasn’t ready. They later informed us it might take another hour, so we explored the old city for a few hours. By the time we returned, our luggage had been delivered to the room. The room was clean, quiet, and serviced daily. Fresh towels were provided automatically, though we hadn’t asked for them. A sign in the bathroom instructed us to leave dirty laundry in the bidet if we wanted it changed, which we didn’t do. From the front and back terraces of Palace Hotel San Michele we enjoyed magnificent views over Manfredonia, the sea, and the countryside. While the room was clean and mostly comfortable, it needed some maintenance: the heavy curtains on the terrace door had fallen off the rails, bunching on the floor and letting light in; the large circular shower cubicle leaked onto the floor; the toilet flush often got stuck and kept running until we pushed the button repeatedly; one light in the sitting area was broken; the fridge was tiny; cigarette butts were scattered on the outdoor terrace. The double bed was actually two single beds joined together, which spread out noticeably overnight. Many bus tour groups stayed at Palace Hotel San Michele, and we saw them in the large breakfast room. The buffet offered many items, but the boiled eggs were cold, overcooked, and had a grey/green ring inside; the scrambled eggs were inedible at our first breakfast and we never tried them again; the bacon was cold and oily, and the warmer wasn’t working. Despite these issues, we were satisfied with the other breakfast options. Overall, we would definitely stay at Hotel Relais Normanni again and recommend it for its location and other features.
