The Camp - Lake Hawea

The beds were comfy, the kitchen was excellent, heating was great, the driveway was private, and the location was secluded so it was quiet. The bedrooms were decent in size and warm. The water pressure was very bad, I had to put a curtain over the front door to keep the warmth of the living room in, the power points in the second bedroom were far from the bed, and the Wi‑Fi was limited.

“Great location but very dirty”

The location is great and the lake Hawea is stunning, a good spot to see the blue pools. I have never stayed somewhere so dirty and unkept. The bathroom floors were covered in hair and there were huge bits of hair on the walls. People left their rubbish everywhere in the bathrooms, which honestly made me want to vomit. The kitchens were also disgusting, so dirty and water everywhere, mold on old signs and no kitchen items to use, so we had to go to a local op shop and buy things that we left there in the kitchen. Think twice about booking here. The Wi‑Fi is terrible; they give you 30 minutes or a usage limit. I tried it four times and it only worked once before asking me to pay. I asked reception and they didn’t care. They also didn’t care about the filth everywhere. I complained about the state of the kitchen and the water and mess everywhere. They just came and took photos of it.

The spot is cheap and right in the middle of everything, but the kitchen and bathrooms could have been kept cleaner.

“Ok”

I slept comfortably for one night, yet the showers and toilets were pretty dirty, there was no food on site because of seasonal closures, the fire was never lit, and the camp had no real atmosphere.
