The receptionist was a very nice young man. We returned for an after‑drink at 10.30, but the bar had already closed and no one was there. The breakfast, which cost £15.00 each, was a disgrace; the toast was so hard it seemed to have sat on the plate for at least a couple of hours.

The pub, common areas, and our room were clean and tidy; the decor gave a classic small‑town pub and hotel vibe. The staff were friendly, drink prices reasonable, and the food delicious. The premises were short‑staffed on a busy weekend; while the staff who were there were fantastic, there were complaints about wait times and sympathy for the struggling, overworked team. No criticism of the staff themselves, just a note that management should organise better staffing.

The hotel feels cozy and its location is unbeatable if you want that welcoming village vibe and want to explore the Bronte area. The room only had two pillows, one close to the bed and one far away, probably because it's a historic building, and there was a hint of mildew in the bathroom.
