The hall is magnificent inside and out. We played tennis and squash, strolled through the beautiful garden, and relaxed on the patio with a view. Every room feels homely and relaxed. I loved the honesty bar concept—no need to dress up. It’s a great base for exploring the North Devon coast.

“Edwardian splendour and stunning views”

I adore Edwardian architecture, and this huge house delivers in spades, designed by the eminent architect Quennell. The owner knows its history well and spent years restoring it, even keeping the original bill of works so you can see the original costs from 1911. The big oak doors with their massive decorative hinges really caught my eye. The sweeping westward views toward Exmoor are spectacular; we spent hours on the terrace watching the light change. In the morning, we took the 'cinder track' by the front door onto a footpath that leads back to the network and up to Selworthy Beacon.

“Sehr schön, wie bei Freunden.”

We always felt very comfortable, like at home… a very nice place, and we will gladly come back, but I would still like to see more photos of the drive.
