It was in Wakaw. We were scared to sleep, kept listening for rats or mice and checking for bedbug bites. The floors were uneven, and the windows didn’t open. This hotel needs much more work before it can be open for business. The reservation was not refundable.

The place sits right in the heart of town, so getting around was a breeze. Unfortunately there was no breakfast offered and the front desk seemed pretty clueless – I kept running into miscommunication and had to repeat myself a lot.

Everything went smoothly for our group – the rooms were tidy, the heating worked and nobody had anything to complain about. The only downside was the price tag; it felt a bit steep for a small‑town setting.

We booked the junior suite while on a hunting trip; the old building was clean, the staff friendly, and the on‑site restaurant (plus nearby eateries) served solid meals. The suite’s two bedrooms, little fridge and microwave were handy, though it was a shame there was no coffee machine – just instant packets.
