I’m writing this to urgently warn all international travelers, especially solo guests, about a severe security and safety breach at Hotel Sharden. I arrived on October 8 around 11:30 PM. Less than a day later, I fell victim to an internal crime ring. On October 9 around 2:00 PM, I went back to my room and saw that someone had entered without my permission while I was away, because an old cup in my room had been cleaned and moved. Because of this unauthorized entry, I had to check my secure belongings and found that cash totaling 500 Lari and 150 USD had been physically stolen from two separate wallets (including my passport wallet). When I reviewed the hotel’s own CCTV footage, I saw highly suspicious behavior: a female cleaner entered my private room at 11:59 AM and stayed inside for 8 full minutes holding nothing but a bottle of water, doing nothing else but moving the cup. When I confronted the hotel manager with these exact facts and timestamps, they showed complete and total indifference. Instead of addressing the internal theft or helping a guest, the manager hid behind internal “policies” and shifted the blame onto me. I immediately involved the authorities and have filed a formal criminal complaint with the Crime Investigation Department (CID) / Patrol Police. If you read my review and, like me, you care about the safety of future travelers, please drop a review for this hotel on Google Maps to keep the warning visible. While I am going through the legal process, I know I may not be able to fully rely on local authorities—but I know I can rely on you, my fellow travelers, to help spread awareness. Do not trust this hotel with your safety or your belongings.
