The bed was comfortable and spacious, water and wine were in the fridge, and the location was very central. The steep stairs and very small bathroom were a downside, and I didn’t expect it not to be “managed” – it’s still called a hotel.

Close to the city center, but the light, even with the curtains, slips into the room as soon as it gets light.

Situated right in the heart of the city, the room was large and welcoming, recently renovated and very modern. Two bottles of water and a bottle of wine were provided upon arrival. Our room was on the 4th floor without an elevator, so the narrow, steep staircase was a hassle, and the bedroom window with a balcony had no curtain, which would have helped with privacy and keeping the morning sun out of our eyes.

The property is very clean and well maintained; there’s no elevator because the building is in the Old Town, and when we asked to be moved to a lower floor, the host did so quickly and without any problems. They offer two bottles of water and one bottle of wine, plus excellent coffee, which is a big help in the morning since cafés in Bucharest open a bit later. Overall great experience!

The location is in the Old City’s tourist restaurants, but access is handled by a terribly clunky, buggy code-operated door system that eliminates the need for a concierge, resulting in a poor welcome. The room smelled of stale smoke when we entered, and the noise level made sleeping difficult: party music ran into the early hours, there was no sound buffer as other guests loudly entered the building, drilling, steel cutting, and building works with loud male conversations started at 7am. The mattress was reasonably comfortable, but the plastic cover made noises when turning or moving. The bathroom had orange mould on all grouted areas and fluff on the floor in the hallways. You cannot store luggage or check out even an hour later; the computer (access codes and cleaning schedule) apparently says no. I’d recommend staying a bit further out – Bucharest is very walkable – unless you want to sleep right next to the bar you’re drinking in.
