“Special Request Ignored; Poor Communication”
Overall the place was pretty clean, roomy, and the bedding comfortable, with two TVs, gluten‑free cereal at breakfast, good orange juice, and a full‑size fridge. The big problem was that my special request for a “Quiet” room was ignored; I had filled it out online two weeks before arrival and received no reply. Instead, we were assigned the motel’s noisiest room next to the communal area where more than 35 people gathered in the evening and the elevator. When the noise became unbearable, I sent my wife to the front desk to ask why we hadn’t been given the quiet room I’d requested; she was met with excuses. (Bottom line: they didn’t want to lose a sale, so they ignored our request.) They eventually offered another room, but by then we had already been there four hours, unpacked, and I was watching football and didn’t want to move. (If a quieter room had been available, why weren’t we given it from the start?) Be aware that Staybridge does not reply to all requests; don’t assume a request will be fulfilled. I understand it was a weekend and they were pretty booked, but we would not have stayed there if they had been upfront and communicated that they couldn’t accommodate our pre‑booking request for a quiet room. We took an eight‑day road trip around Wisconsin, and the three other chain motel properties we stayed at responded promptly to our online request for a quiet room. Other cons: the price was high, an extra resort fee was added, there was no decaf coffee, some kitchen utensils in our unit were dirty, and the kitchen vent was dirty.
