The lodge sits on the bank of the crocodile river, and you can see animals coming to drink right up against the fence. Breakfast was good, and they even packed breakfast for us when we left early for Kruger Park. We also dined there. The rooms were clean. The bathroom has no window or vent, so the humidity is high and it smells damp after a shower.

The location was excellent, right near Malelane Gate, on the banks of the Krokodile River, giving a fantastic view with crocodiles, antelopes, and hippos. The facilities were comfortable and the staff were very kind and helpful. We had to book last minute because our flight was delayed and we couldn’t reach the RestCamp we had booked at Kurger, so we chose this place as an emergency option and arrived early in the evening. The reception staff helped us schedule a sunset game drive for the next day, which was great.

The food spread was great and well cooked. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had to wait a while to order dinner, and when my drink ran out, no one came to ask if I wanted another.

The location was superb for visits to Kruger Park, with Melelane Gate about 12 minutes by car. Breakfast was tasty, and lunch or dinner could be taken spontaneously at the same restaurant; if you’re there for both, you can have them on one bill in the evening. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The housekeeping staff arranged flowers on the towels on the bed every day. On the evening of arrival we booked a game drive on the spot, and the hotel kindly put together a breakfast pack for the next day 5 minutes before closing. The rooms were very spacious and clean, with comfortable beds. At night you can hear faint animal noises through the windows, but it wasn’t too disturbing. We were lucky twice to see elephants come down to the river by the hotel, and on one day a hippo was bathing there. That was impressive, and other guests who stayed longer say it happens often. The breakfast was tasty but the selection wasn’t very large, which might have bothered us on a longer stay. Otherwise everything was fine.

The location was perfect near Malelane Gate and local shops. The Deck restaurant overlooking the river was amazing – we saw game every day.
