Grand Hotel Velingrad sits atop a scenic hill in Velingrad’s Chepino district, offering panoramic views of the town and surrounding pine forest. The resort boasts eight indoor and outdoor mineral pools, two dedicated SPA zones with sauna, herbal steam, salt room, laconium, and Kneipp path, plus a medical centre for physiotherapy and balneo treatments. Guests enjoy a bowling centre, piano‑bar “Louis,” and live music. Three conference halls accommodate up to 200 attendees.

I liked the swimming pools and the bowling area the most. The overall service could improve, staff could be friendlier. The buffet didn’t live up to expectations, the food was poorly prepared and not tasty. Water and drinks were not included in dinner.

The spa is excellent, the rooms are comfortable and spacious, and the hospitality is pleasant. There’s also a bowling and snooker hall. The hotel itself feels a bit dated, breakfast is reasonable, the dinner menu included in the price changes every evening and isn’t amazing, but the city restaurants aren’t great either, so we preferred to eat at the hotel. At dinner, water is charged.

The hotel is situated high up, close to the forest, with free parking for guests. Our room had a wonderful view of the city – clean, comfortable everywhere. The staff are smiling and courteous. The food is varied and tasty. There are several pools, jacuzzis and spa facilities suitable for swimming. In the adult area, the Finnish sauna and steam bath were better. I really liked the volcanic stone massage, with the advertised duration and overall experience, unlike other places. There’s also a bowling and billiards zone. I didn’t like that water is charged at dinner, especially when mineral water is available.
