“The perfect spot”

I strongly recommend staying here! The dorm bunks were double beds and super comfy, the facilities were clean, and the hostel was well connected to public transport—just a few minutes’ walk to the train and several bus stops. The host Kana was incredibly kind and helpful, giving great local tips and helping me book dinner nearby. It’s the perfect base for exploring Hakone.

“Excellent location, wonderful guest house with traditional tatami, and awesome host”

I was thrilled with this charming guest house; I upgraded to the tatami room, a very traditional space where I slept on a futon that was very comfortable. The place was spotless. Huge thanks to Kana, who was warm and kind, full of knowledge and gave me plenty of recommendations for onsens, restaurants, cafés, and other local sights. It's the people that turn a good holiday into a great one. I would highly recommend staying at this brilliant guesthouse—its location is excellent too.

“Annyira otthonos”

Kana! She is the soul of the whole place. We wish she could stay forever and become our Japanese grandma :) She is endlessly kind, meticulous, attentive, and gives a lot of tips and help. Through her we got involved in conversations with Japanese elders and received solid tips for very local restaurants. The place is authentically atomic, with a super captivating atmosphere for the more than 100‑year‑old wooden building. First night we slept in the common room because our original booking for a separate room was cancelled due to some payment mishap. It was annoying to hear everyone’s every little tap and step on the creaky floor. For some reason there’s always someone who snorts loudly in places like this, but overall we still slept well. The next day Kana had already moved us into a separate room.
