The room was great, with a beautiful sea view and excellent hotel architecture. The green area was lovely, the pools were great, and the beach was delightful. The hammocks under the palms were nice. I’m writing this review in comparison to another 5★ hotel we stayed at in Nha Chang. First, not all staff speak English and it seemed no one spoke Russian (not a huge issue, but a comparison point). Breakfasts were tasty but the variety was limited and would get boring after a week. The on‑site restaurant was average: some dishes we liked, some we returned, prices were very high, like a good restaurant in Moscow. Overall, everything was overpriced for the same quality as elsewhere. Regular coconuts were very expensive, though they were no different from market ones. Nearby the hotel we couldn’t find decent places to eat, so we had to stay in the hotel for up to 40 minutes to travel elsewhere. The beach was great; towels could be taken from the pool area but then you’d have to haul them to the beach (other hotels provide towels at both pool and beach), and then back up the hill—very inconvenient. What I disliked most was that when we checked in we were offered old slippers with visible fingerprints from previous guests; that’s not 5★ level! Others could have fungal or other foot ailments. If the hotel cares about the environment, it should just not provide slippers at all; it was very unpleasant and ruined the first impression. We asked for new ones and they were replaced, but I lost mine on the beach and asked my husband to bring me new ones, and at reception he was given the old slippers again… it was terribly unpleasant. We also went to the cinema, only to find the film was in Vietnamese with Vietnamese subtitles. The video‑game room was paid, about $4 for half an hour, and we didn’t understand why that service should be paid. There was no medical staff at all (the other hotel had an on‑call doctor). In short, the service is very uneven and does not match the hotel’s level or the high room rates.
