“Disappointed with my return stay”
The place is a bit removed from the busy town area, which makes it very quiet and peaceful—perfect for a relaxed getaway. Mornings felt especially pleasant with fresh air and almost no noise, and at night the area was beautifully dark, letting me enjoy a clear view of the stars, which was a real highlight. I used to love staying at Le Cielo Umalas, and even though the location was a little far from town, I returned because of my good experience in 2025. This time, however, I was disappointed. The property now feels noticeably older and lacks proper maintenance. The bathroom had a lot of spider webs, the cabinet door under the sink was broken, and there was greenish residue around the shower gel and shampoo pump bottles, which looked unhygienic and as if they hadn’t been cleaned for a while. The towel holder was broken and slightly twisted, so towels kept falling off. We checked in late and were offered welcome drinks, which was nice, but after housekeeping cleaned the room the used glasses were left behind. We returned in the evening and found them still there; we left them outside the room, but they stayed until the next evening, so we had to ask staff to remove them. It was a small issue, but it made us feel housekeeping could be more attentive. I also stayed at Le Cielo Batu Bolong on this trip, and the difference in service was noticeable—Batu Bolong’s staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and helpful, truly beyond 5‑star service. In comparison, Umalas’ staff seemed less interested in assisting guests, though they were still generally friendly and polite. I hope management can focus more on cleanliness, maintenance, and service standards at Umalas, because I really wanted to enjoy my return stay as much as I did in 2025.
