“I can not wait to go back for a longer stay!”

What a stunning place! The rooms were immaculate and super cozy, and the bathrooms were just amazing—especially the soaking tub, pure bliss. The food at Slyline was fantastic, and every staff member was wonderful. The only downside was that we couldn't extend our stay, even though we had booked for my birthday.

“Gorgeous, clean hotel that met the standards of a neat-freak homebody”

We’d never stayed downtown Lynchburg before, so we booked this place at the last minute after ditching a cheaper spot on the other side of town because of hygiene problems and broken appliances; arriving late at night, the friendly staff and the fact we could still eat without ordering in or leaving the hotel was a pleasant surprise. The room was clean and comfortable, all appliances worked, and we felt spoiled, especially since we’re not frequent travelers. We were upgraded to a suite for free because there were no rooms of our original type available for both nights, so it was great that the hotel automatically ensured we stayed in the same room. The late‑night food was surprisingly good; we could order to‑go and the quantity and quality were impressive for the price and the hour. Our breakfast servers were sweet and attentive, clearly part of a cohesive team, and the food was fresh and tasty. However, breakfast at the skyline café took longer than we’d like because the kitchen was backed up; the staff were busy and moving, and ticket times were very long. They kindly compensated one of our meals for the delay, but it seemed there might not have been enough kitchen or floor staff. We arrived around 9:45 AM and didn’t get food until about 10:30 AM, while other guests further from the kitchen waited even longer to order, receive food, and pay. Portions felt smaller than the night‑before meals. The bathroom sink overflow drain and the inner rim of the sink were quite gross, visible from the mirror and when brushing teeth or washing face. The bed was worn and old, but we’ve slept on worse; at first we feared the mattress might have collapsed, but it just had permanent human‑sized valleys with a firm spot in the middle from age and wear. We also wish the TV had more streaming app options, though overall we liked its interface compared to other hotels.

The room was amazing, clean, big, and spacious. In the bar upstairs, the outdoor dining area had a lot of spiders on the roof; I know it’s hard to keep bugs out outdoors, but those webs and spiders had been there for a while, so we went back inside right away.
