Walking to the WHW from here is a breeze, and the accommodation, though a bit dated, works well for the hike; the pub is grand with a great beer selection, excellent food, and good value, and the three‑course dinner was outstanding. Breakfast costs 14.50 per person, which we didn't use, and otherwise everything was fine.

We went to breakfast and the chef apologized after a few minutes that the gas had gone off and he couldn't cook; he promised to talk to his manager and I told him we expect a full refund for the three missed breakfasts. That night, the noise from children shouting, screaming, and people slamming doors—apparently from rooms at the Tailrace—was unbearable, making the stay very disappointing; please advise how we can secure a refund for the unserved breakfasts.
