The room was fine. I wasn’t told that the hotel would close and that entertainment would be limited. The hotel was quiet (dead at times) and lacked atmosphere.

I discovered Madeira from this place, it’s a solid base. The door on my room kept slamming, and the lamp was broken; I reported it but nothing was fixed. I asked for an extra early breakfast one day but overslept, and when I went to pick it up the receptionist gave me a half‑hearted shrug and asked if I even knew what time it was.

The place was immaculately clean, very comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. The pool was so clean, had plenty of very good quality loungers, and because it was adults only it was very quiet and relaxing.
