The location by the river is nice. I’ve been trying to sum up our experience. It’s a lodge with potential that isn’t used. The double rooms were big and fine, but the single rooms were unbearable because of the stench. Unfortunately, no one felt responsible. The owner lives abroad and the local staff don’t feel obliged. We asked for help planning a tour to Bamboon Island. The planning and pickup worked perfectly. Only nobody told us that the chimpanzee feeding by the rangers happens daily between 4 and 6 pm, so spotting them was hard. Very disappointing. At the end, I offered leftover breakfast fruit to our driver, who gave it to the lodge workers. Then it got awkward when the lodge lady insisted that he had no right to give it away, claiming the fruit belonged to the lodge. For clarity, I paid and therefore decided. In the end, she was quite rough and creative with swear words toward our driver. Bottom line: you pay a western standard and get nothing. The lodge lacks heart. Next time I’ll definitely choose somewhere else.

I had a mixed experience at this lodge. On the one hand, I loved the beautiful location right on the Gambia river, and my spacious lodge with two single beds was clean and comfortable, with working air conditioning that helped me sleep well. However, I found the dining area to be less than inviting, with harsh lighting and a mosquito netting construction that didn't exactly make me feel welcome.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, thanks to the incredibly friendly and nice team that made me feel right at home. The food was not only delicious but also unbeatable in terms of value, and the surrounding nature was simply astonishing. With such a great combination of people, food, and scenery, I would highly recommend a visit to this place.
