The facility is a bit old but good value for money.

The hotel was spotless, steeped in history, and the manager was exceptionally kind, with no complaints at all.

The hotel in San Francisco sits right in the heart of the Horta district, about 700 metres from the sea port, and a 1 km walk to the famous “Sport Café” takes you past a glass building that houses the tourism information centre before reaching the pier where the café and the world’s largest private collection of shipwreck artifacts are located. The bar, established in 1918, is private; the house‑made gin and tonic costs 4 euros, and the museum entry is also 4 euros. A great steak and soup cost around 16 euros, and I definitely recommend seeing it. The hotel opened in 2017 and I accessed it via a Wi‑Fi password. The three‑storey building offers spacious rooms with very good beds and quality mattresses that aren’t too short. The rooms are very clean, cleaned daily, and I saw reviews mentioning a shower bath, which felt old‑fashioned but didn’t bother me. The shower is small, but the water pressure is good; I can fill the whole bath if needed. Fresh, clean towels are provided. Everything is fine. Breakfast runs from 7:30 to 10:00 and is very generous, though the same items appear daily: sausage, ham, cheese, pastries, coffee, tea. I especially liked the chilled orange juice, which you can drink as much as you want. The staff are helpful and resolve any issues; they can book a taxi to the airport for 15 euros. I recommend the hotel for its great location and good price‑quality ratio. I stayed from 4 to 10 September. From the information centre, a bus departs at 12:45 around the island for 8 euros, lasting about 2 hours, which is worth it. I saw a lot of interesting island life. Be sure to swim with the shipwrecks and dolphins from “Sport Café”; the price is 80 euros, departing at 14:00. I liked the guide on the boat, who worked with love and was excellent. It wasn’t boring. The departure times are 9 am and 14 pm, with a 3‑hour time difference back to Vilnius time. I definitely recommend swimming from the sea port to Pico Mountain. The week flew by quickly because I worked part of it, leaving less time for sightseeing.
