The Ngati Ruanui Mountain Lodge is an excellent base for great hikes that start right from the lodge, with beautiful, clean, and comfortable facilities, a delicious restaurant, and amazing staff – we had a perfect stay!

Meesha was super friendly and made us feel so welcome; the food was delicious, hats off to the chef, and we’ll be back.

The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to help with information; the on‑site restaurant served delicious meals, the rooms were clean, and the bed was very comfortable, but there is a lack of privacy at the front because people and cars pass close by and can look into your room.

The location is convenient, close to the volcano, and you can dine and have breakfast there nicely, but it feels quite dated and the rooms (bathroom) are rather cold.
