“An ok place with construction going on”
The location was nice, tucked into a backstreet away from the main road. The kitchenette made cooking easy, and the tap water was drinkable. They supplied toiletries, and the shampoo and soap had a pleasant scent. The shower had a heater, and utensils were available in the kitchenette. The aircon worked well, and the hosts were friendly and pleasant. Outside, a water dispenser was available for those who prefer not to drink tap water. The place needed some upkeep: the spatula was burnt, so I had to scrape off the melted parts to flatten it. Two outlets were in the kitchenette, but only one worked for the fridge, kettle, and oven, so you had to unplug one appliance to use another. A rice cooker would have been handy, but there wasn’t one. The fridge was a bit dirty. The front wall of the kitchenette was unfinished concrete, and the bathroom walls were similarly bare and smooth; 40% of the bathroom walls weren’t painted or tiled. Gecko droppings and ants appeared on the walls, entering through the bathroom window. Construction dust was everywhere because the property was expanding. One day the owner told me to turn off the aircon occasionally to give it a rest since it ran 24 hours, which I’ve never heard a hotel or apartment manager say. It felt wrong because I paid for an aircon room, so I told him I’d turn it off whenever I left.
